Don’t wait till the last minute. We would hate for you to be the one we have to say: “Sorry! But we are not able to help you. It is too late.”
Going into the busiest time of the year for us, we are ready to tackle all the prom dresses and tuxedos our young customers will bring in. This is typically also a busy period of the year for Wedding gowns and Bridesmaid dresses. Our reputation for quality work precedes us and that brings us even more work.
It is important that you consider this when choosing when to bring us your alterations. Even if we get all of our experts to put in more hours, every year we face the sad reality of having to say no to some last minute requests for alteration on prom dresses. We hate to say no. But sometimes, we have no other options.
This is happening more and more as young consumers tend to order their gowns from the internet. Many times, the gown they order come from China and it arrives at the very last minute. Most times, the dress they receive don’t fit so well and we need to put in quite a lot of work to make it wearable. The shock comes when the cost of alteration exceeds the original purchase of the garment itself. As many of you know, “sometimes cheap turns out to be quite expensive”.
Please be aware of this when choosing an outfit. The cost of the alteration does not change or fluctuate with the price of the garment. If you pay less for your dress does not translate into a lower cost to alter it. If that would be the case, then everybody would come in and say they got their clothes for free or as a gift. If you got it for free, doesn’t mean that we will do the work for free.
